Héctor Manuel Mora Montes got the PhD degree in Experimental Biology (2006) from Universidad de Guanajuato (México), with an experimental work focused in C. albicans mannosidases. Then, he worked as Postdoctoral fellow at the Aberdeen Fungal Group, University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, U.K., under supervision of Prof. Neil A. R. Gow (2006-2009). In this period, he learnt to generate C. albicans null mutants, to analyse the cell wall composition and the protein glycosylation pathways. In 2010, he obtained the level II within the National System of Researches (SNI, Mexico), and a repatriation grant from CONACYT (Mexico), and started to work as Professor in Microbiology at Universidad de Guanajuato. He created the Laboratory of Fungal Glycobiology, with the main goal to understand the synthesis mechanisms of the fungal cell wall and the interaction of medically relevant fungal pathogens with the host.
