Gerardo Herrero

Synopsis

Juan Olmedo is 40. From the shipwreck he survived, he was able to save only his niece and mentally retarded brother. Behind him, in a different city, he left a past as dramatic and capricious as the winds that lash the Atlantic Coast of Cádiz he chose as his new home, to escape from his memories. In this out-of-the-way place, Juan meets Maribel, his cleaning lady, and Sara, another “outsider” and newcomer like himself. They unexpectedly help him face the memories that torment him relentlessly: a star-crossed love affair with his brother’s wife, and the mysterious death of the brother he both loved best and hated most: Damián.

ROUGH WINDS (LOS AIRES DIFÍCILES)

ROUGH WINDS (LOS AIRES DIFÍCILES) is the story of a man who tries to make a life of what’s left after a shipwreck.

Ready to make a fresh start, Juan Olmedo moves to a residential area on the coast of Cádiz, weighed down by the baggage of memories he cannot forget. Charo, his secret and destructive love and Damián, the brother who was, tragically, also his rival are the past that torments him relentlessly. But Juan is a survivor and he clings to his only lifeline, willing to have a second chance at happiness. Almost spontaneously, others in search of a reason to live, like him, come together to form an unusual family. One of them is his neighbor Sara, a solitary woman who has also left behind a past she wants to forget. Unintentionally, these two “castaways” come to share their secrets and friendship, thanks to unexpected help from Maribel, who cleans both their houses. She is the catalyst for their new lives.

Getting a second chance at life after painfully letting go of the past is the story of Juan Olmedo, and the story of ROUGH WINDS (LOS AIRES DIFÍCILES).
