St. George Summer Camp 2013

Parent Packet

““You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.”

(Matthew 5:13-16)

Dear Parents,

Another summer has arrived and we would like to welcome you and your kids to this year’s summer camp. A lot of time and effort has been placed to ensure that your kids really benefit from this year’s camp. Enclosed, along with this letter, is a list of the rules and policies we will be enforcing, a day to day schedule, contact information and information concerning the curriculum that we will be using.

Just a reminder, we will meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Wednesdays will consist of a liturgy that will begin at 10am. We ask that you bring your children to the Liturgy since one of our main focuses of the summer is how to conduct ourselves in church.

Pick up will be at 6pm. Please be sure to pick up your kids by 6pm, since the servants have families and responsibilities to attend to.

Every Thursday we will have either a field trip or a service project. If you have any questions or problems concerning the cost of the trips or fees pertaining to the camp, feel free to contact Abouna Moussa Saleh. We also ask that children wear the camp shirt that will be provided for them the first week of the camp every Thursday.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact Sara Badrous at 813-504-0006 or Nardin Badrous at 813-504-0003.
Thank you so much for your help and support.

Take care and God Bless

Point System

This summer everything will work off of a point system. For everything that each child does they will earn a certain number of points. A certain number of points will be necessary to be able to attend field trips and other activities. Just because the student attends a session does not mean they will earn the total number of points. Points will be awarded due to participation and involvement in their sessions.

Points Per Session

Total Points Per Week

How to earn the points

Christian Behavior

You Must maintain a Christian, positive attitude throughout the week.

You must come to at least one Liturgy per week.

You must attend sessions, participate & respect one another.

Participating in Activities

(Play or Choir)

You must participate in one of the activities. (No excuses)

Participating in Free Time

(Sports or Arts & Crafts)

You must be doing SOMETHING; you have to participate.

Agpeya Prayers

You must attend Agpeya; No Excuses!

There are 500 maximum points that can be earned each week. Each child MUST EARN A MINIMUM OF 400 POINTS TO BE ABLE TO GO ON THE FIELD TRIP AT THE END OF THE WEEK.

The kids are required to clean up after themselves, participate in activities, and maintain good Christian behavior. Points can be deducted or not awarded if the child does not comply with all camp rules and opts not to display proper Christian behavior. The child has to maintain a positive attitude and show respect to all his peers and servants, even on trips; doing otherwise might result in not letting the child go on the following trip or even getting sent home.

The rules outlined are non-negotiable
1. NO PROFANITY – that means no cussing, no lying, no cheating or anything else that is not suitable in the house of the Lord.

2. NO HITTING – that means no hitting, wrestling or any form of violent or non-violent physical behavior. Anyone caught hitting will not be allowed to return to the camp.

3. AT ALL TIMES you must respect the servants and the chaperones. If at anytime you have a problem with any of the servants or chaperones, you must notify Sara or Nardin.

4. ALL sessions, activities, and Agpeya prayers MUST BE attended and attended on time. If, for example, you are late 5 minutes, you will stay 5 minutes after class to make up the time.

5. NO ONE is to leave the church property unless he/she is accompanied by a servant.

6. A servant must be with you if you want to go outside to play. You are not allowed to go outside by yourself. Anyone caught outside alone, or during a session will sit in time out for the rest of the day.

8. Full participation in all activities is required.

9. No one is allowed to leave the liturgy at any time. If you need to go to the bathroom, go before you enter church.

10. There is no talking or socializing during the liturgy.

11. Clean up after yourself. That includes in class, activities, free time, and after meals.

12. Schedules are posted everywhere; you must stick to the schedule. There are no excuses for skipping or missing a session. Skipping sessions or trying to skip because you “don’t feel like going” will result in us not feeling like letting you go on a field trip.

13. NO NON-FASTING FOOD will be brought into the church or on any trip, nor can you buy non-fasting food on any trip during the Apostles’ Fast. If any such food is found, it will be taken away (confiscated).

14. ALL CELL PHONES will be off during each session. If a phone is seen out or being used, it will be confiscated and given back at the end of the day.

15. There are NO DS (es), video games, IPODS, OR MP3 players allowed. They will be taken away and a parent will have to come get it from either Sara or Nardin.

16. There is a point system and it will be followed. You have to earn the required points to go on the fieldtrip. There will be No exceptions. You cannot simply come on Thursdays for the fieldtrips.

17. DISRESPECT to any servant or a peer will not be tolerated!! We will have a three strikes and you’re out policy—three times you get in trouble for disrespecting someone you will not be allowed back in the camp. There will be no exceptions!
