Useful Clinical Phrases!!

During the Natural Medicine in Global Health Course, you will be in clinic for four days conducting either full physical exams or assisting the ND’s during consultations. Here is a list of useful phrases and vocabulary while in the clinic.

When you are in the clinic with a doctor, they will be filling out paperwork as they go along, which are called hojas. On the hoja, they will record, name, age, diagnosis and treatment. At times they will write if the patient is in need of an examination at the hospital. The abbreviations they use are as follows:

* EGH = stool sample * EGO = urine sample *BHC= hematocrit & hemoglobin

* Glicemia = blood glucose

* FUR – fecha de ultima regla = LMP – last menstural period
